Welcome Message from Mr. Chris Fountain!

Mr Fountain PictureI am pleased and excited to introduce myself as the new Principal at Whitewater Middle School. I feel humbled and honored to be given this opportunity to serve as a leader of such a dynamic, diverse, and talented school community. I have been thoroughly impressed with the warm welcome that I have received and can tell by conversations that I have had with students and staff that Whitewater Middle School is truly special. I look forward to working with you all to create an exciting learning environment built on trust, communication, and collaboration.

The majority of my career was spent at the Norris School District. Norris School provided education to at-risk middle school and high school boys. It was there that I developed a real understanding and appreciation of how important relationship building and teamwork is. During my 27 years there I had the opportunity to grow as a leader. I taught Science for 21 years before becoming the Principal and Director of Instruction and Curriculum which I did for my last 6 years there. I also coached athletics all 27 years and was able to get Norris School entered into the WIAA and Indian Trails Conference and served as the Athletic Director for 22 years. The past 3 years I have been at the Delavan-Darien School District. I was hired as the Associate Principal at their middle school and did that for one year. At the end of that year Superintendent Crist asked me to become the Principal at Turtle Creek Elementary School as there was work that needed to be done there that my skill set aligned with very well. After being a secondary educator for 28 years I now found myself in the elementary world for the next 2 years. I really enjoyed and will cherish my time at this level but realized my passion lies serving at the middle school level which brings me to now. I am very excited to be at Whitewater Middle School and am hopeful that this is where I finish my career.

I am married and have 5 sons, 4 grandchildren, a disabled rescue dog, and 4 chickens (quite the crew!). Three of my sons are in the U.S. Military, one is a foreman at a landscape company, and my youngest is going into 4th grade at Jefferson West Elementary School where my wife has been a teacher for 18 years. When I am not working I enjoy spending time with my family, coaching little league baseball, playing sports, attending/participating in car shows, hunting, fishing, and just about anything that has to do with the outdoors. I also have a passion for serving as a firefighter. I was a volunteer firefighter for 12 years and held many different officer positions including being Palmyra’s Chief.

One of my first charges will be to build strong relationships with students, staff, parents, and the community at large. You will find me in the hallways, classrooms, and at special school/community events. I am a Warhawk alumnus so you may see me at some of those events. I love to interact with people so please come and say Hi. I truly have an open door policy and welcome your input and ideas. I look forward to meeting and getting to know each of you as we start this new and exciting year together! If there is anything that I can assist you with do not hesitate to stop in or contact me at: or 262-472-8364.

Sincerely,
Chris Fountain
