Civics education is alive and well at WMS! On October 28th, Senator Janis Ringhand visited WMS to speak to the 7th grade class as part of their study of U.S. government. In Sen. Ringhand's speech, she explained her duties as a WI State Senator and the steps she took to pursue a career in elected office. She then took time to answer questions from the students.
Students taking part in the Veterans History Project travelled to Madison on October 21st to meet with WI State Representative Ken Skowronski, who serves as chairman on the Committee of Veterans Affairs. After the question and answer session, Rep. Skowronski gave the students a personal, guided tour of the Capitol Building. In the afternoon, students learned about various wars from a Wisconsin viewpoint at the Historical Museum and met with the Oral Historian at the Veterans Museum.
