Hello and welcome!
My name is Alyssa Reetz and I proudly teach 6th grade Language Arts. I am also one of the supervisors for The Homework Zone (THZ), an after school group that meets Tuesdays-Thursdays in the library. For the past 3 years, I have worked with children with autism in their homes as a Behavioral Therapist. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater with a Bachelor of Science in Education (grades 1-8) and an emphasis in English Writing Education. I was fortunate enough to be placed at Whitewater Middle School for my Student Teaching experience with Carey Fero in 7th grade. Following that amazing journey, I applied for a Long Term Sub position here at the middle school teaching 6th grade Math and Science. From there, it was history! I was thrilled to be hired on to the 6th grade team for the 2016-2017 school year to teach what I have a true passion for.
Attending college in Whitewater, I already knew I loved this town. Having the opportunity to teach here has been nothing but fantastic. I am so grateful to be a part of the Whippet family! The supportive staff and community have made me feel extremely welcome as a new educator. My goal is to help my students develop a passion for reading and/or writing and finding relevance in what we do in class to their own lives!
