The mission of the Whitewater Middle School Library is to provide a program with opportunities for students and staff to become ethical, effective users and creators of ideas, information and technology.  The program aims to promote life-long learning by providing diverse resources and technology that support the curriculum, instructional development, information and technology literacy, reading enrichment and literature appreciation.

The Whitewater Library Program Will:

  • Encourage students to increase independent reading for enjoyment and personal growth.
  • Prepare students to be ethical users and creators of information in all formats.
  • Provide leadership and assistance to students and staff in developing information and technology literacy skills for life-long learning. That means, provide them with the skills to inquire, search, locate, select, evaluate, collaborate, create and share information.
  • Provide a library media center with an atmosphere that is comfortable, purposeful, and conducive to learning.
  • Provide a diverse library & media collection that encompasses new technologies and learning tools and that enables staff to meet the goals of instructional curriculum and state standards.
